Precisely my first thought on skimming the paper. The bitterist pill to swallow is that they dropped Doonsbury but kept the bloody Sudoku.
Priorities, Guardian, priorities!
I’m so naive. Yesterday I was thinking to myself, ooh, colour on every page! That means a full-colour Doonesbury!
Ahem.
I still can’t believe they cut it. Especially given how it’s clear that Steve Bell now clearly spends a lot more time on his full-colour illustration than he does on If…, which has been below par since the early days of New Labour, frankly.
Not that they couldn’t have kept both, obviously.
